Once upon a time, in a small village near a deep forest, lived a poor woodcutter, his wife, and his two children—Hansel and Gretel.
They were kind and cheerful, but times were hard. There was very little food, and the family often went to bed hungry.
🌲 A Cruel Plan
One night, the stepmother said to the woodcutter,
“We don’t have enough food for all of us. We must leave the children in the forest.”
The father was heartbroken, but he felt helpless.
Hansel and Gretel overheard the conversation. Gretel began to cry, but Hansel said,
“Don’t worry, I will find a way to bring us home.”
✨ The Trail of Pebbles
That night, Hansel quietly slipped outside and filled his pockets with small white pebbles.
The next morning, their parents took them deep into the forest. As they walked, Hansel dropped the pebbles along the path.
When night came and they were left alone, the moonlight shone on the pebbles, guiding them safely back home.
🍞 Lost in the Forest
But the stepmother was even more determined.
A few days later, they took the children into the forest again. This time, Hansel couldn’t collect pebbles. Instead, he dropped pieces of bread to mark the way.
Sadly, birds ate the breadcrumbs.
When the children tried to return home, they were lost.
🍭 The Sweet House
After wandering for days, hungry and tired, they found a strange and wonderful house made of bread, cake, and sugar.
The children were delighted and began to eat pieces of the house.
Suddenly, an old woman came out and said sweetly,
“Come inside, dear children. You must be hungry.”
🧙 The Wicked Witch
But the old woman was a wicked witch!
She locked Hansel in a cage and forced Gretel to work as her servant.
The witch planned to fatten Hansel up and eat him.
Every day, she checked his finger to see if he was growing fat. But clever Hansel showed her a small bone instead, tricking her into thinking he was still thin.
🔥 Gretel’s Clever Plan
One day, the impatient witch said,
“I will eat him today, fat or thin!”
She told Gretel to check if the oven was hot enough.
Gretel pretended not to understand and said,
“I don’t know how to check.”
The witch leaned in to show her.
Quickly, Gretel pushed the witch into the oven and shut the door!
💎 Freedom and Treasure
Gretel freed Hansel, and together they searched the house. They found chests filled with jewels and treasures.
They filled their pockets and escaped from the forest.
After a long journey, they finally found their way home.
🏡 A New Beginning
Their father was overjoyed to see them. The stepmother was gone, and the children were safe again.
With the treasure they brought, the family never went hungry again.
Hansel and Gretel lived happily with their father, wiser and braver than before.
