❌ Common Mistakes While Getting Ready

❌ “I got late.” (Indian English)
✅ “I’m late.” / “I’m running late.” / “I woke up late.”
“Got late” is Indian English. In standard English, say “I’m late”, “I’m running late”, or “I overslept.”
❌ “My uniform is tight.” meaning it doesn’t fit anymore
✅ “I’ve grown out of this uniform.” / “This uniform doesn’t fit anymore.”
“Grown out of” is the natural English phrase when clothes become too small because you’ve grown bigger.
❌ “Wear your shoes.” (common but not precise)
✅ “Put on your shoes.” / “Wear” is for what you have on.
“Put on” = the action of wearing. “Wear” = the state of having it on. “Put on your shoes” (action) vs “I’m wearing shoes” (state).
❌ “The bus is came.” / “Bus came.”
✅ “The bus is here!” / “The bus has come.”
“Is came” is wrong grammar. Say “is here” (present) or “has come” (present perfect). Both are correct.
❌ “I forget my homework.” (for past)
✅ “I forgot my homework.”
“Forget” is present, “forgot” is past. If it already happened, say “I forgot.” If it’s a habit: “I always forget my homework.”
