❌ Common Mistakes Students Make

❌ “I have doubt.” (Indian English)
✅ “I have a question.” / “I have a doubt about this.”
In standard English, “doubt” means you’re unsure something is true. Use “question” when you want to ask something. Add “a” before “doubt.”
❌ “I didn’t understood.”
✅ “I didn’t understand.” / “I don’t understand.”
After “didn’t”, always use the base form: “understand” not “understood.”
❌ “My homework is over.”
✅ “I finished my homework.” / “My homework is done.”
“Over” means something ended (like a movie). For tasks you complete, say “done” or “finished.”
❌ “Explain me this.”
✅ “Explain this to me.” / “Can you explain this?”
“Explain” needs “to me” — you can’t say “explain me.” Say “explain this to me, please.”
❌ “I am having confusion.”
✅ “I’m confused about this.” / “This is confusing.”
Use “confused” (adjective) or “confusing” (for the thing). “Having confusion” is Indian English.
