🏫 When to Use These Sentences

The classroom is where Indian students spend 6-8 hours every day — and most of that time, they’re listening, not speaking! These 50 sentences help your child speak up in English confidently: asking questions, answering the teacher, borrowing a pencil, or saying “May I come in?” when they’re late.

The magic trick? Children who speak English in class get noticed by teachers. When your child raises their hand and says “Ma’am, I have a question about this chapter” instead of staying silent, they stand out. These sentences make that happen!

❌ Common Mistakes in the Classroom

❌ “Ma’am, I have doubt.” (Indian English)
✅ “Ma’am, I have a question.” / “I have a doubt about this.”
“I have doubt” without “a” is Indian English. Use “I have a question” (better) or “I have a doubt about this” (with article “a” + “about”).
❌ “Can I come in?” (very casual)
✅ “May I come in, Ma’am?” (polite & formal)
“May I” is more polite and formal than “Can I.” In the classroom, always use “May I” when asking teachers for permission.
❌ “I didn’t understood.” / “I didn’t got it.”
✅ “I didn’t understand.” / “I didn’t get it.”
After “didn’t,” always use the base form: “understand” not “understood”, “get” not “got.”
❌ “Give me your pen.” (rude)
✅ “Can I borrow your pen, please?” / “May I use your pen?”
“Give me” sounds like an order. “Can I borrow” or “May I use” is polite. Always add “please”!
❌ “Teacher told to do page 52.”
✅ “The teacher told us to do page 52.” / “The teacher asked us to do page 52.”
Need “the” before “teacher” and “us” after “told.” “Told to do” needs a person: “told us to do.”
