In the fertile soil of Coorg, Karnataka, a tiny mango seed lay buried in the earth. Above her, the world was bright and beautiful — but she was trapped in darkness.

“I want to grow!” said the little seed. “I want to feel the sunshine and the rain!”

She pushed upward with all her strength. But a heavy rock was sitting right above her!

“Give up,” said an earthworm nearby. “That rock is a hundred times your size. You’ll never move it.”

But the seed didn’t listen. Day after day, she pushed. Her tiny sprout was soft and green, but her determination was made of iron.

“I will find a way,” she whispered.

Slowly, incredibly slowly, the sprout found a tiny crack in the rock. She pushed through it — bending, twisting, but never breaking. After two whole weeks, a tiny green shoot broke through the surface!

“I made it!” cried the seed — now a seedling. She felt the warm sun on her leaves for the first time. It was the most glorious feeling in the world!

But her challenges weren’t over. A terrible storm came. Wind howled. Rain pounded. The seedling bent almost to the ground.

“Hold on!” called the big trees around her. “Storms make your roots stronger!”

The seedling held on. The storm passed. And her roots had grown deeper.

Summer came. The sun was scorching. The seedling was thirsty. But she sent her roots deeper into the earth, searching for water. She found a hidden stream underground!

Years passed. The tiny seed that everyone doubted became a magnificent mango tree — the tallest in all of Coorg! Birds built nests in her branches. Children played in her shade. Every summer, she gave the sweetest mangoes in the village.

An old farmer would point to her and tell his grandchildren: “See that tree? She was once a seed smaller than your fingernail. But she never gave up. Remember — the mightiest tree was once a tiny seed that simply refused to stop growing.”
