📖 Let’s Learn Verb Tenses (Expanded)!

In Grade 2, you learned past tense (walked, ate) and present tense (walk, eat). Now in Grade 3, let us add the future tense — things that WILL happen!

The future tense uses the word “will” before the verb: I will go, she will eat, they will play. Now you can talk about the past, present, AND future!

💡 The Rule

Present: I eat (happening now).
Past: I ate (already happened).
Future: I will eat (going to happen).

English has 12 different tenses in total! But don’t worry — in Grade 3, you only need to know the 3 basic ones: past, present, and future.

The word “will” originally meant “to want”. So “I will go” originally meant “I want to go.” Over time, it became the future marker!
