The Indian Constitution is the supreme law of India. It was adopted on 26th January 1950 — which is why we celebrate Republic Day! The Constitution lays down the rules by which our country is governed and guarantees Fundamental Rights to every citizen.

The Constitution was written by a committee led by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, known as the Father of the Indian Constitution. It took 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days to complete — making it the longest written constitution in the world!
