Every sentence you speak or write is one of 4 types: Declarative (tells something), Interrogative (asks a question), Imperative (gives a command), or Exclamatory (shows strong feeling).

Knowing these 4 types helps you write with variety and purpose. You can also transform one type into another — a key skill tested in exams!

💡 The Rule

Declarative = statement, ends with . (The sky is blue.)
Interrogative = question, ends with ? (Is the sky blue?)
Imperative = command/request, ends with . or ! (Look at the sky.)
Exclamatory = strong emotion, ends with ! (How blue the sky is!)
