Grammar โ€ข Grade 1

What are Nouns?

A noun is a word that names a person, place, animal, or thing. Look around you โ€” everything you can see and name is a noun! Your mother is a noun. Your school is a noun. Even your pencil is a noun!

๐Ÿ’ก Remember This Rule

A noun is a naming word. It tells us the name of a person, place, animal, or thing.

โœ… Examples

๐Ÿ‘ฆ Person: Rahul is my friend.
๐Ÿซ Place: I go to school every day.
๐Ÿ• Animal: The dog is playing.
๐Ÿ“– Thing: My book is on the table.

๐Ÿง  Memory Tip

Point at things around you and say their names out loud โ€” those are all nouns!
