📖 Let’s Learn Conjunctions!
A conjunction is a word that joins two words, phrases, or sentences together. In Grade 2, you learned to join with “and”. Now let us learn more conjunctions: but, or, because, so!
Each conjunction has a different job: “and” adds ideas, “but” shows contrast, “or” gives choices, “because” gives reasons, and “so” shows results. Using conjunctions makes your writing smoother and more interesting!

and = adds ideas. but = shows contrast/difference. or = gives a choice. because = gives a reason. so = shows a result.

🔗 and: I like rice and dal. (adding)
↔️ but: I like rice but not dal. (contrast)
❓ or: Rice or roti? (choice)
💡 because: I eat rice because I like it. (reason)
➡️ so: I was hungry, so I ate. (result)

Adds ideas together: I like tea AND coffee
Shows contrast: I like tea BUT not coffee
Gives a choice: Tea OR coffee?
Gives a reason: I drink tea BECAUSE I like it

Focus on one conjunction daily. Monday = and, Tuesday = but, Wednesday = or. Make 5 sentences with each.
Join the Sentences
Give two short sentences, child joins them: “I was tired. I slept.” → “I was tired, SO I slept.”

Ask “Why?” questions often. “Why did you like the movie?” → “BECAUSE it was funny.” Practises because!
